As part of Project SEDNet, the BCSC conducts teacher workshops to prepare teachers using the ARIES curricula. What is Project ARIES? More and more school districts are looking to ARIES training as a standard for teaching in the field of science. The ARIES curriculum was developed by the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Education researchers, scientists, teachers, media specialists, and graduate students continually collaborate to identify and address the needs of science teachers. ARIES (Astronomy Resources for Intercurricular Elementary Science) workshops are designed to train teachers and other educators at the elementary and middle school level (grades 3-8) to incorporate an exciting new curriculllum that uses Astronomy as the central focus to teach physical science. The workshops are intense, invigorating, highly interactive, and inspiring. However, we make it easy for you to immediately incorporate the curriculum into your classroom. Students use innovative, simple, and affordable materials to carry out a wide range of indoor and outdoor discovery-based activities. All ARIES workshops are cross-referenced to the New Jersey Science Standards; however, educators from all states are welcome to attend. Certificates will be awarded upon completion of each workshop.
