The Buehler Challenger & Science Center provides an experience that will inspire your students and transform them into astronauts, scientist, and astronomers. You can board Space Shuttle Phoenix, visit STARLAB, or experience EVA's right in your school.
Grades K-4 Space Shuttle Phoenix programs are written for grades K-4, and can be set up in your school's gymnasium. Each program is one hour in duration and students will get to participate in a simulated launch inside of the inflatable space shuttle. Our K-1 portable mission takes the young astronauts on a journey through the solar system. Your class will visit each planet from Mercury to Pluto on their journey and learn interesting facts. They will discover how much they weigh on Earth, the Moon, and Jupiter. And students will learn how big Jupiter's Big Red Spot really is. Our other scenario has 2nd-4th graders experiencing many of the difficulties that astronauts face. Some of the activities your class will do include: Working in a glove box, assembling a probe/satellite for launch while in orbit, and finding out just how disorienting space travel can be. The Space Shuttle Phoenix requires a 45-foot long area for setup with a minimum of 9 ft. overhead clearance with access to an electrical outlet. Additional free space is necessary for activities.
Grades K-8 Bring the wonders of the night sky to your students. The STARLAB is an exciting way to study the stars, constellations, solar system, deep sky objects, Greek Mythology, and more. Don't just talk about the stars, see them as they appear to move across the sky. The STARLAB is a portable planetarium large enough to accomodate a class up to 32 students. STARLAB easily fits into a gymnasium size area. (Dome size: 10.5 ft high, 25 ft across) Lessons can be adapted to fit all grades from kindergarten through eighth grade. Make an ordinary day an exciting sky adventure.
(Extra Vehicular Activity) Grades 5-8 An EVA is a 90-minute thematic program designed to work in a classroom setting. The activities are designed for student involvment with many hands-on activities. These programs can be independent or act as a companion to the mission at the Buehler Challenger & Science Center. Satellite imagery, impact craters, mining on the moon, planetary surface surveying, and landing site selection are some of the content themes. Watch your students receive and interpret satellite data, run a hand rover over the lunar surface, or create an impact crater. Choose from three themes
EVA Pricing: 1 Class: $ 325 2 Classes: $ 600 3 Classes: $ 775 4 Classes: $ 1025 5 Classes: $ 1150
