Description: Step into the shoes of an engineer as you tackle real-world design challenges using creativity, collaboration, and real engineering tools and techniques. This camp is ideal for students interested in the various pathways within engineering, including mechanical and aerospace, as well as electrical and product design.
Throughout the week, campers will:
- Work individually, in pairs, and in teams to solve engineering problems using the engineering design process
- Build, test, and race their own solar-powered cars
- Design and create working systems using simple machines and Rube Goldberg-style mechanisms
- Learn about circuitry, material design, 3D printing, prototyping, and sketching
- Learn about rocketry so they can design, build, and launch their own model rocket
- Explore multiple engineering disciplines through hands-on activities and real-world examples
- Campers will document their progress in an engineering notebook, just like professional engineers, to build skills in planning, reflection, and iteration.
